Minneapolis/St. Paul – July 22, 2019 – Five Team USA Minnesota distance runners – Danny Docherty, Tyler Jermann, Katy Jermann, Meghan Peyton and Dakotah Lindwurm - will participate in the annual Life Time Torchlight 5k in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday, July 24. The run begins at 7:30 p.m.
The Torchlight 5k is held during the Minneapolis Aquatennial event and precedes the Aquatennial Parade that will be held at 8:30 that same evening. A new course is featured for the run starting at the Minneapolis Convention Center, going through the streets of downtown and along the West River Parkway, before ending at Boom Island park.
The five Team USA Minnesota runners most recently competed during Grandma’s Marathon weekend in Duluth on June 22, either in the half marathon or marathon. They are also qualified for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials that will be held in Atlanta on Feb. 29, 2020.
Tyler Jermann has run 2:13 in the marathon, and Docherty has a best of 2:18. Katy Jermann ran her marathon debut last January in a time of 2:33, Lindwurm completed her first marathon in June in 2:34, and Peyton set her best of 2:36 in the marathon last December. All five have started their preparations for fall marathons.
