Minneapolis/St. Paul – Oct. 1, 2019 – Eight Team USA Minnesota distance runners will compete during Twin Cities Marathon weekend Oct. 5-6 including in the TC 5k and TC 10k on Saturday, and in the Medtronic TC 10 Mile/USATF 10 Mile Championships, and the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday. “This is one of the biggest competition weekends of the year for the team,” said Chris Lundstrom, Team USA Minnesota coach. “We look forward to these races since they are held in our backyard. It’s always great to have a national championship here in the Twin Cities, not to mention a top ranked marathon. Our preparations have gone well and the team is ready to go.”
Starting off the weekend will be Joel Reichow who will run in the TC 10k which begins at 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 5 with a start and finish on the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul. Reichow has a best of 28:42 in the 10,000m on the track. Also running on Saturday will be new Team USA Minnesota athlete Colin Abert who will be in the TC 5k presented by Fredrikson & Byron at 8:45 a.m. Abert has run 14:10 in the 5000m and will be making his professional debut.
In the Medtronic TC 10 Mile, which is also host of the USATF 10 Mile Championships on Oct. 6, will be Katy Jermann, Annie Frisbie, Tyler Jermann and Kevin Lewis. The 10 Mile starts in downtown Minneapolis at 7:00 a.m. and finishes at the State Capitol in St. Paul.
Katy Jermann has posted 54:03 in the 10 Mile, while Frisbie will be making her debut both as a professional runner and in the 10 Mile distance. She has run 32:58 in the 10,000 meters. Tyler Jermann has a best of 48:22 in the 10 Mile and Lewis has run 48:48.
In the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, which starts at 8:00 a.m. in downtown Minneapolis and finishes at the State Capitol in St. Paul, Danny Docherty and Dakotah Lindwurm will both be running in their second marathons. Docherty posted 2:18:27 at the Houston Marathon last January in his first marathon, and Lindwurm made her debut in the marathon at Grandma’s in June with a time of 2:34:02. Both already have their U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifiers.
