Minneapolis/St. Paul – Aug. 27, 2019 – Five Team USA Minnesota distance runners – Katy and Tyler Jermann, Dakotah Lindwurm, Danny Docherty and Meghan Peyton – will be among the competitors at the USATF 20k Championships that will be held in New Haven, Conn., on Labor Day.
The championships, which start at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern) on Sept. 2, are hosted by the Faxon Law New Haven Road Race. It is the longest running USATF Championship having held the men’s race since 1993 and the women’s championship since 2006.
Katy Jermann has a best in the half marathon of 1:10:27 which she set by winning the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in June. She also placed fifth at the USATF Half Marathon Championships in Pittsburgh last May. Tyler Jermann has a best in the half marathon of 1:03:31 and placed fourth at the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon.
Lindwurm posted a split of 1:13:39 in the half marathon en route to placing fifth at the USATF 25k Championships in May. Docherty has a best of 1:03:47 in the half which he set at the Garry Bjorklund Half, where he finished sixth. At the USATF 25k Championships, he placed seventh.
Peyton has a best in the 20k of 1:09:57 and was the 2013 women’s winner of the USATF 20k Championships in New Haven.
All five athletes - who already have their qualifiers for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials that will be held Feb. 29 - are preparing for fall marathons. Peyton is running the Berlin Marathon in September, Docherty and Lindwurm will compete at the Twin Cities Marathon in October, and the Jermann’s will run in the New York City Marathon in November.
